World Football Shirts Tell the Story by Bret Simmons

With sales of world football shirts increasing year on year, it really does show how global the game has become.

People have questioned the popularity of football recently, with lower attendances reported for some of the lower league teams. This is to be expected though with the increased television coverage every league seems to be enjoying. However, television doesn't seem to stop the fans buying football shirts as most clubs have enjoy high sales.

What's really interesting is how supporters are starting to take a keen interest in the foreign leagues and not just their own domestic competitions. For instance, people in the UK tune in every weekend to watch La Liga and some even go as far as to buy the shirts and support a particular Spanish side. The same could be said for the Serie A which enjoy tremendous support all over the world. Then there's the big on - the Premiership.

The Premier League sells more shirts worldwide than any other competition. It also generates more revenue, attracts the biggest crowds and the best players and is undoubtedly the strongest league in the world. In fact, the competition has become so popular that the league are contemplating playing some of the fixtures in foreign countries. Needless to say, this hasn't gone down well with local supporters but others believe it's inevitable because of the mass worldwide appeal of the competition.

As the argument rages on, football continues to be the worlds most popular sport. Fans are packing stadiums, paying to watch on the television and forking out the cash for the official football shirts. This is just the way football will always be.
